Thematic Focus

Organisational Strenghtening

RACE’s institutional strengthening thematic focus supports non-profit organisations and civil society leaders to create dynamic leadership, technical expertise and professional management systems that would enable organizations to advocate their constituencies effectively.

Our programs also entail support to set up policy that deals with governance, strategy, advocacy, and operations issues. We provide anuanced understanding of how organizations can operate, adapt, and thrive in diverse social, political, and economic dynamics.

Through our programs, organisations are empowered with build resilience strategies, tactics, tools, through traditional training and mentoring. Our expert team of organisation coaches serving as mentors and connect organizations to other resource partners for expanded networking.

Gender justice

We promote the rights of the most vulnerable persons, particularly women, girls, and young people. Under the gender justice thematic focus, RACE is committed to entrenching more equal social structures and power relations. We will work with State and non-state actors on matters of laws andpolicy reforms and practices that promote the rights of the most vulnerable persons, particularly women, girls and young people.

Our programs are designed to promote laws and policies that address discrimination; protection from violence and abuse; foster the enjoyment of sexual and reproductive health and rights; safe guard and expand the civic space of women human rights defenders and women movements; facilitate equal participation of women, men and sexual minorities in political, economic, social and civic space; and transformation discriminatory social norms.

Democracy and Governance

Our programs are designed to support institutional and organizational development for achieving the balance of power, decentralization, localization, gender-responsive policies, social inclusion, citizen engagement.

We strengthen governance institutions to be more inclusive and adopt democratic values. This includes support to parliaments, political parties, mediators, civil society, and citizens. We build the capacity of citizens to strategically engage and demand accountability in electoral as well as governance processes.

Our programs support engagement in the public budget cycle to ensure that policies become monitorable according to conventional criteria such as efficiency and effectiveness, but also principles such as gender responsiveness. We also support engagement to demand for quality public service delivery.

Environment and Climate Change

We recognize that environmental degradation and climate change are critical challenges facing African communities. Our programs are designed to ensure full participation of non-state actors in the policies that climate change and environmental for effective implementation. Furthermore, we build knowledge on the risk of negative impacts of climate change as well as adaptation strategies.
