Evelyn Ugbe
Program lead
Evelyn Ugbe is an experienced project manager with a decade of expertise in project management, facilitation, and strengthening partner capacities. She excels in designing, planning, and implementing effective and sustainable development projects that address Gender-Based Violence (GBV), climate change, and the promotion of gender equality and inclusion. Evelyn has significant experience overseeing projects funded by foundations, as well as multi-lateral and bi-lateral organizations, which have enhanced access to quality services and fortified community-driven safety nets for vulnerable women and girls, particularly those facing multiple and intersecting discriminations.
She successfully coordinated advocacy efforts to prioritize gender bills in constitutional amendments and managed the FCT One Stop Center, providing comprehensive services for GBV survivors. Additionally, she facilitated private sector funding for Sexual Assault and Referral Centers and coordinated advicacy for adoption of National Gender and Climate Change Action Plan. Evelyn was instrumental in the passage of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law in several Nigerian states and has designed and managed programs supported by USAID, UN agencies, the African Women Development Fund, the Global Engagement and Resilient Fund, the Ford Foundation, UNFPA, and the MacArthur Foundation. She has also led advocacy for the inclusion of gender as a standalone goal and a cross-cutting issue in the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations, as well as initiatives for adopting a Gender Action Plan at the UNFCCC Conference of Parties on Climate Change.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Tsinghua University Beijing and a Certificate in Safeguarding in International Development.
