Centre for Redefining Alternative Civic Engagement for Africa (R.A.C.E)

RACE Africa was founded in the year 2022 with the commitment to a resilient civic ecosystem where professionalism and local based knowledge is developed, amplified and deployed for addressing the most pressing challenges. RACE started because of the need to strengthen the capacity of organisations involved in development and humanitarian interventions to better utilize scarce resources for sustainable impact. While organisations in the civic space have deployed collective organising to achieve giant strides, it is imperative to ensure standards in the processes of delivery.

Our work is informed by the drive to entrench visionary and accountable leadership guided by standardized governance systems for transformative and sustainable results. We strongly believe that upholding women rights and agency is an essential for a just society. We therefore, under-take innovative interventions at the global, national and local levels aimed at transforming the lives of youths, women and girls. We create space and nurture groups representing the most vulnerable women to organize autonomously, network with stakeholders at levels, acquire and share skills and expertise, identify issues of concern and speak for themselves and communities.

Vision

Resilient civic eco-system with strong and effective institutions

Mission

To strengthen the capacity of organisations to lead sustained transformative interventions

Theory of Change

Our theory of change holds that healthy societies need strong organizations to hold governments accountable, protect human rights, provide needed services, and advocate for marginalized groups. We believe If the capacity of organisations is strengthened, if philanthropic resources are deployed in a professional and accountable manner, then societies will become more resilient in sustaining transformation.
